trying to get pregnant

09-15-2017

my husband was just diagnosed with colon cancer and was made aware that raditation will sterilize him. came to conclusion we want to try to get pregnant. so I stopped taking birth control pill right away then couple days later started my period. however we had sex before I got my period so my question is could I be pregnant? and if not is it possible to get pregnant so soon after coming off the pill? radiation starts in a week so very limited on time! (however also had his sperm freezed) any info would be great!

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. You are not pregnant and it may be a couple of months before you could get pregnant, but i have seen people getting pregnant right after the discontinued pill. So keep your hopes high and use the ovulation calendar and have more frequent coitus around ovulation days.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
