extreme severe pain while swallowing only.

07-31-2017

I went to the dentist 5 days ago for crown preparations on 3 upper front teeth. I sat in the chair nearly 3 hours. 3 days ago I developed extreme severe pain while swallowing only. I can drink liquids ok but am unable to swallow food because the pain is so bad. Feels like Ive swallowed sand. I have no other symptoms. Went to ER last night and they did a soft tissue xray saw no foreign body, normal structure, no swelling, vocal cords, epiglottis was normal. Was told to follow up with ENT. I am having a hard time keeping the pain under control with motrin and tylenol. Can you tell me what this could possibly be?

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. With foreign body ruled out, its just inflammatory response and needs supportive care and symptomatic relief.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.

I read your question and i understand your concern. These are common sequelae of dental procedure, hang in there, treat symptoms supportively , mouth lubricants, artificial saliva, good oral hygiene, salt and garlic water mouth rinses etc will help.
