Birth control still effective and safe if expired?

Today is September 13 and I have 4 days left on my current birth control pack. My next pack expires October 2010, I will start that pack on September 18. I was wanting to make sure that the pills in my new pack would still be effective in preventing pregnancy during the 16 days in October I'll be taking them.

LizzieBeth, Medicines does not just go bad overnight. It is a very gradual process. If it was stored as directed, the true expiry date are many months into the future. The expiry dates are normally very conservative.

Unless you kept the pills in sunlight and heat for extended periods of time, you will be safe.

Take care.
