Pain on opposite side?

Have a herniated disc on the left side L4/L5, now having major pain on right side as well. Why would this be?

hi herniated...yah thats a bit strange but i think i can give you a possibility. with pressure on spinal nerves that feed one side and no pressure on other side you also have to look at the fluid in middle of disc that is quite toxic and when it leaks inside the disc and comes in contact with nerves can cause pain. that pain could travel down other side leg.....pete
